Walt Disney have reportedly reopened talks with 21st Century Fox over their assets.
Discussions were held in October, though they only lasted a few weeks and ended with no deal agreed. Now, however, the House of Mouse have returned to the table and there is some belief that this time an agreement could be reached, possibly by the end of the year.
Of course, the assets that talks are focusing on include properties such as movie rights to several Marvel Comics characters including the X-Men and Fantastic Four.
The Wall Street Journal also claim that Comcast are in separate talks to purchase Fox’s assets.
Any deal would also include a 30% stake in streaming platform Hulu, in which Disney and Comcast already hold 30% stakes. If the deal – and the additional 30% stake – was agreed and went through, the purchasing company would hold a controlling share in Hulu.
To add another potential wrinkle to things, Verizon and Sony have also expressed interest in negotiations over assets.
