J.J. Abrams will write and direct Star Wars: Episode IX.
The director, who helmed Star Wars: The Force Awakens, will return to complete the trilogy, LucasFilm have announced.
LucasFilm President Kathleen Kennedy is quoted in the announcement;
“With The Force Awakens, J.J. delivered everything we could have possibly hoped for, and I am so excited that he is coming back to close out this trilogy.”
Last week, it was announced that Colin Trevorrow had departed the project.
Star Wars: Episode IX is due to be released on 24 May 2019.
