Asuka has relinquished the NXT Women’s championship, ending his historic 500+ day title reign.
The champion, who retained the title against Ember Moon as this past weekend’s NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn III, handed the title belt to NXT GM William Regal and announced to the Full Sail crowd at last night’s TV tapings that she was “in negotiations with Raw and Smackdown Live“.
WWE have acknowledged the segment on their website, confirming that her title reign will officially end on the date that the show airs, though it did not specify Asuka’s next move, only noting that she will “look to her future for new opportunities”. Live reports from the tapings confirm that she specifically mentioned the WWE TV shows.
Asuka broke her right collarbone in the match against Moon, an injury that has a typical recovery time of 6-8 weeks.
