It’s that time of year again people, Force Friday is upon us and every Star Wars fan around the world will be awaiting the news of what new collectibles are due for release ahead of the franchises cinematic return in December with Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
For those of you not familiar with Force Friday, back in 2015 Disney, along with pretty much every toy company on the planet, utilised the Star Wars hype surrounding The Force Awakens release by organising a worldwide event to launch all of the accompanying merchandise. With the simulatoenous release of all things Star Wars, they were able to broadcast the range to the world via live streams with backing from big players like LEGO and retailer Toys’R’Us. To say the event was a success would be an understatement.
While a mini-Force Friday did happen last year for Rogue One, nothing compared to that first event. Now, two years on and with just months before we get Luke Skywalker return to the screen (with lines this time), Force Friday is back.
LEGO has already hyped up fans with today’s announcement of a 7000+ piece Millenium Falcon, the largest and most expensive set the toy company has ever created. Expect much more from them as well as Disney’s own collection, Jakk’s new figures and much more. From midnight onwards the news will be filing in with haste.
For those of you in the UK, Toys R Us have just announced that they will be running midnight events at their stores in Oldbury, Warrington, Cardiff Bay, Medway, and Glasgow. They have also launched an Augmented Reality treasure hunt. You can download the Star Wars app here
Disney stores are also likely to be opening for the launch.
As soon as we have more information regarding releases we’ll keep you updated.
