Spider-Man: Homecoming Passes $250m

Less than a week after its first release, Spider-Man: Homecoming has already passed the quarter of a billion mark.

Opening in Europe on July 5 and the US two days later, Spidey’s first MCU solo outing has currently taken $256 million dollars, with $117 million coming from the US and Canada, and over $139 million from overseas. It is the second-highest opening for both a Sony and a Spider-Man movie, behind Spider-Man’s $151 million in 2007.

The $7 million taken in IMAX screenings is the top international opening of all time for a Sony film.

The movie’s $256 million is only $7 million behind the total gross for The Incredible Hulk, and $114 million behind Captain America: The First Avenger.
