San Diego Comic-Con 2017: The Walking Dead Season 8 Trailer

The Walking Dead has debuted a new trailer for its eighth season.

Released to coincide with the show’s Comic-Con panel, the hit AMC show showed off new footage for the upcoming new season.

Among other things, we see plenty of Rick, who appears to have united Ezekiel and his Kingdom along with the Hilltop community. Strangely, we see very little of season 7 big bad Negan, which could be in response to fan criticism over the many aspects of his story last year.

The trailer’s BIG talking point, however, will be the last scene, which shows a greying Rick lying in bed.¬†While this led many to speculate that this is Rick waking from his coma – and therefore the whole series has been a dream – it is more likely the first confirmation of the All Out War story from the comics making its way to the small screen. In that tale, the story experiences a big time jump that takes us to a more civilised Alexandria, where Rick has taken on a new look that includes short hair and a beard – with grey hair.

Furthermore, the shot of a cane in the trailer would seem to follow the events in the All Out War thread that saw him suffer permanent damage to his leg following a final showdown with Negan.

The Walking Dead season 8 starts on October 22.
