The fantasy match-up is now a reality; Conor McGregor vs Floyd Mayweather Jr. has been officially announced.
Taking place on August 26 in Las Vegas, UFC Lightweight champion McGregor will make his professional boxing debut in the bout, which UFC president Dana White admits has been in negotiation for some time.
“We’ve been in negotiations now for a while and to be honest, negotiations went smooth. Floyd is surrounded by some smart people and we got this thing done. The impossible deal is now done. Conor McGregor is a guy who’s done a lot of good things over the years for this sport and for this company, and he wanted this, and obviously the fans wanted it too. At the end of the day, my job is to make fights that the fans want to see.”
“This is a fight that the fans demanded. The fans wanted to see this fight, it’s the most talked about fight on the planet right now and it will be the biggest fight ever in the history of two people punching each other.”
The superstars themselves have taken to social media to confirm the mega match;
