Disney Being Held to Ransom Over New Movie?

Hackers are reportedly threatening to pirate a new Walt Disney movie unless they are paid a ransom.

Yahoo! Movies are reporting that Disney CEO Bob Iger has claimed that hackers have gained access to a copy of an upcoming film and are threatening to release the first five minutes online, and then the rest in 20 minute segments, unless Disney pay a ransom in Bitcoin.

Disney haven’t confirmed which movie has been targeted, but sources claim it is either Cars 3 or Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar’s Revenge. Pirates 5 is due for release next week.

Disney are currently working with federal investigators to determine if the threat is genuine.

On a related note, Netflix were faced with a similar threat several weeks ago, with hackers releasing the full new series of Orange is the New Black after the streaming service refused to pay the ransom demand.
