Universal Announce Dark Universe of Monster Movies

Universal Pictures has unveiled it’s Dark Universe – a series designed to bring together monster stars such as The Mummy and the Invisible Man.

Starting with the upcoming reboot of The Mummy on June 9, the series will then deliver Bride of Frankenstein on 14 February 2018, which will be directed by Beauty and the Beast‘s Bill Condon and has been called “a very modern woman in a very classic tale”.

Tom Cruise and Sofia Boutella star in The Mummy, which the Universe will also bring in Javier Bardem as Frankenstein’s Monster, Johnny Depp in the Invisible Man, and finally Russell Crowe, who will act as the conduit between the movies as Dr Henry Jekyll. He will appear in The Mummy trying to find monsters on behalf of the “mysterious, multi-national organization” Prodigium group.

There will also be a reboot of Creature from the Black Lagoon, to be written by Aquaman scribe Will Beall.
