The Rock Heading to a Galaxy Far, Far Away?

At this point, there appears to be little that Dwayne Johnson either hasn’t done or will do at some point soon, apart from sign up to star in a Star Wars movie.

And that might be coming sooner than you think.

Now before I start, I should preface this by saying that the following rumour is purely just that at this juncture, based on nothing more than a Twitter follow and subsequent – and predictable – social media speculation.

Over the last few days, observant fans have noticed that the official Star War Twitter has started following none other than Dwayne Johnson, Rosario Dawson and Gotham‘s Cameron Monaghan. Nothing untoward there, you may state, however when compared to the multitude of stars the account follows, all of which have previously or will soon star in Star Wars films, as it stands none of Johnson, Dawson or Monaghan have any link to a Star Wars project, past or present. Predictably, this has led to speculation that the three will soon be announced for a future Star Wars movie, possibly as soon as this coming weekend’s Star Wars Celebration event in Orlando.

Dawson has done little to quell the rumours, retweeting a post which included an image of her and Star Wars: Rebels character Ahsoka Tano. Johnson, of course, already has a very good relationship with Disney, with their newest project being Jungle Cruise, announced earlier this week. However, given Johnson’s famously-packed slate of upcoming movies, any Star Wars plan would surely not be for some time.

Speculation or not, it has added even more anticipation to the Celebration event that didn’t need any more anticipation; a first teaser for Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi is expected to debut at the event.
