Jude Law will portray Albus Dumbledore in the sequel to Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
Decade before he becomes the Headmaster of the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in the Harry Potter series, Dumbledore will be seen as the school’s Transfiguration professor. He is a contemporary of Gellert Grindelwald, who was played by Johnny Depp in the first movie.
The sequel’s director David Yates said of Law’s casting;
“Jude Law is a phenomenally talented actor whose work I’ve long admired and I’m looking forward to finally having the opportunity to work with him. I know he will brilliantly capture all the unexpected facets of Albus Dumbledore as J.K. Rowling reveals this very different time in his life.”
The Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them sequel is set for release on 16 November 2018.
