Fast 8 Sets New Global Box Office Record

Fast & Furious 8 has had the biggest-ever opening weekend in history.

The vehicular franchise’s eighth entrant – starring Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson – took $532.5 million in its opening weekend, overtaking the $529 made by Star Wars: The Force Awakens in 2015.

$100.2 million was made in the US, while $432.3 million came in from overseas, with China accounting for $190 million alone.

Fast 7 took $1.5 billion worldwide, making it the sixth highest-grossing movie of all-time.
