Beauty and the Beast Crosses $1 Billion Mark

Beauty and the Beast has become the first film in 2017 to make $1 billion at the box office.

The live-action adaptation crossed the $1 billion mark within the last 24 hours, with the movie only being released less than a month ago.

$438 million came from domestic US and Canada takings, with $564 million coming in from overseas, making it Disney’s latest billion dollar movie and the highest-grossing film of 2017 so far.

It had a budget of $160 million, making this (another) very profitable movie-making decision by Disney.
