The Batman Finds its Director

Matt Reeves has officially signed on to direct The Batman.

Despite news coming out last week that he had declined the project, the Cloverfield and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes director is now on board to fill the gap that was left by Ben Affleck’s decision not to direct.

Affleck will still star.

Reeves is quoted by Variety;

“I have loved the Batman story since I was a child. He is such an iconic and compelling character, and one that resonates with me deeply. I am incredibly honored and excited to be working with Warner Bros. to bring an epic and emotional new take on the Caped Crusader to the big screen.”

Chris Terrio has reportedly turned in a script that both Warner and Affleck are happy with, and work can soon start on the feature.

A release date has not yet been announced.
