Jimmy ‘Superfly’ Snuka Passes Away

Jimmy Snuka has died, aged 73.

The WWE Hall of Famer lost his battle with stomach cancer earlier today.

Born James Reiher – though he would later change his name legally to Jimmy Snuka – he was one of the biggest stars in the WWF in the 80s.

He was responsible for one of the great WWF moments – a Superfly Splash off the top of a steel cage against Don Muraco at Madison Square Garden. Following this, his popularity was at an all-time high however he found himself playing second fiddle in the babyface stakes to Hulk Hogan and eventually saw his position on the card fall.

After his retirement, Snuka would make several cameo appearances on WWE events over the years.

Snuka was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 1996.
