Rockstar Begins the Hype Train for Red Dead Redemption 2

*Update*

Just when it looked as though the fan hype had died down a little, Rockstar decided to fan the flames a little more and posted some more art. This time, we see what looks like a posse walking together with a sunset backdrop. Could this be John Marsden and his gang before the events of Red Dead Redemption? That certainly would confirm the rumours of the next game being a prequel.

All I know now is that I’ve got a real urge to go and watch the Lion King for some reason?

Ah Red Dead Redemption, one of my top five favourite games of all time (number one is The Secret of Monkey Island 2: LeChuck’s Revenge if you  were wondering), this is the title that took the open world formula of titles like the GTA series and brought it to the Wild West. Being a big fan of cowboys as a kid, it was a natural fit for me and became something I would revisit constantly in the past six years.

Like many other fans of the title, I have been waiting for a sequel to this 2010 hit and it looks like we may not have to wait much longer to get confirmation of its existence. One of the kings of tease Rockstar Games (second only to Valve) updated their social media profiles this weekend, now sporting a red and black motif – the same style as Red Dead Redemption.

Of course, this isn’t the first we’ve ever heard of a follow-up title to Red Dead Redemption, thanks to a leak back in April. A supposed map of the game’s overworld had appeared on NeoGaf, leaving many fans crawling every inch of the image for clues – such as no inclusion of the railway and an area called New Bordeaux (the fictional setting of Mafia 3).

Now that the weekend is over and more people have begun to notice Rockstar’s clues, hopefully, there’s not too much time to wait for the game’s actual reveal – and here’s hoping the release date isn’t far off.
