Donald Glover has been cast as a young Lando Calrissian in the untitled Han Solo standalone film.
Glover, who starred in The Martian and will also be in Spider-Man: Homecoming, will star alongside Alden Ehrenreich, who was previously cast as a young solo.
The second Star Wars Anthology movie will focus on the earlier years of Solo before his more-famous escapades with Leia and Luke.
Phil Lord and Christopher Miller are on board to direct, and they jokingly apologised to Glover, with this casting now destined to impact his future appearances at a certain annual San Diego event.
“We’re so lucky to have an artist as talented as Donald join us. These are big shoes to fill, and an even bigger cape, and this one fits him perfectly, which will save us money on alterations. Also, we’d like to publicly apologize to Donald for ruining Comic-Con for him forever.”
The film is due for release in 2018.
