Early UK Release For Rogue One

For all those UK Star Wars fans screaming, “Is it December 16th yet?”, great news because it looks like Rogue One is a tiny bit closer than first thought.

With just under two months until the highly anticipated release of Disney’s first Star Wars stand-alone Star Wars movie, the hype machine is reaching peak, with merchandise flying off of the shelves and the recent release of a final trailer.

Now, thanks to the Star Wars UK official twitter account, we now know that fans in the UK will be able to see the movie a full day earlier than those on the other side of the Atlantic. So, readjust those calendar reminders people because the release day is now December 15th.

Interestingly, though, the UK will not be the first country to get the newest adventure in a galaxy far, far away according to the movie’s IMDB page. The site shows that a number of countries will have a release date of December 14, including parts of Europe and Taiwan. The UK will share its release date with a number of countries, including Brazil, Argentina, Columbia and Russia.

Set before the beloved original movie, Rogue One follows a group of misfit heroes tasked with stealing the plans for the Empire’s new superweapon, the Death Star.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is directed by Gareth Edwards and stars Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, Riz Ahmed, Jiang Wen and Forest Whitaker.
