Twitter have announced the long-rumoured changes to their character limit policy.
Starting today, GIFS, photos, videos, polls and quoted tweets will no longer count towards the 140-character limit currently imposed.

It was previously rumoured that the company were considering increasing the character limit to a staggering 10,000, something that obviously did not materialise. Additionally, Twitter are testing tweets not including username of the person you are replying to in the character limit.
