IAmElemental Combat Childhood Cancer With Line of Female Action Figures

In recognition of this September’s Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, Kickstarter-founded toy company IAmElemental will be sending out its range of female superheroes to lend support and encouragement to those affected by the disease.

IAmElemental is known for its popular Courage Core line; a group of female superheroes centred around certain traits. The company will be creating a special-edition Courage Core figure – an amalgam of the existing Bravery, Energy, Honesty, Industry, Enthusiasm, Persistence and Fear heroes. There’s some Joan of Arc inspiration thrown in too, as seen over on the company’s website.

For every Courage Core Power figure purchased, IAmElemental will donate one action figure to a child affected by cancer. Priced at $24.99 (around £19), the figure stands 6.5 inches tall, featuring “more than 30 points of articulation.” She’s also equipped with her own removable helmet, armour, Courage shield and energy sword to aid her efforts in battle.

“Like so much in the IAmElemental universe, our association with childhood cancer comes from our close relationship with our customers,” said Chief Elemental Officer Julie Kerwin in an official press release“Fourteen-year-old Anna Bosma of Harbor Springs, MI was an IAmElemental superfan – a collector of our Series 1/Courage female action figures who eagerly awaited the release of Series 2/Wisdom this fall. Upon learning from her grandmother that she was unlikely to see their release, we sent her an advance set of our newest figures.  Sadly, Anna succumbed this summer after a four-year fight.  Our Buy One, Donate One program honors her legacy, and her wish that IAmElemental figures be shared with others.  Anna understood – more than I could ever dream – about Courage and Superpowers and Character.   And it is Anna who continues, every day, to push us and inspire us.  We are so grateful to Anna’s parents, Buck and Heidi Bosma, for allowing us to celebrate Anna’s life this way, and for offering to work with us to bring Courage to children and families like theirs.”

While IAmElemental’s Courage series draws inspiration from Joan of Arc, the company’s new ‘Wisdom’ range pays homage to ancient Alexandrian mathematician Hypatia; known for departing her philosophical and technical knowledge during the 5th century. The figures, each embodying the traits Creativity, Logic, Curiosity, Mastery, Exploration and Oblivion, are expected to ship later this year.
