2 New Skylanders Videos Celebrate Crash Bandicoot’s 20th Birthday

To celebrate Crash Bandicoot’s 20th birthday on Friday, publisher Activision have shared some all-new Skylanders Imaginators footage, showing the various scrapes the mad marsupial is sure to encounter this October.

The first video features a cheerily bopping Aku Aku, as a timer counted us down to commemorate the beloved bandicoot’s twentieth birthday. Judging by his vivacious dance moves, he’s rather excited about it.

The second is a bit more in-depth, however. Opening with the PlayStation mascot’s signature gem dance, the trailer unravels a host of references to the original Crash games – with tantalising visuals. The orange hero can be seen tearing across part-time sidescrolling stages, dipping into his reliable jet pack and whirling into numerous crates in search of juicy wumpa fruit. That pesky boulder from the first game even makes an appearance.

Skylanders Imaginators is scheduled to release on October 14 for the Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4. The Crash Bandicoot Skylander figure will release as part of the special Crash Edition, which also includes a figure of Crash’s block-headed nemesis Dr. Neo Cortex, who’ll also be playable in the game.

Crash will also be returning next year in his very own titles. As announced by Sony during this year’s E3, Activision and Skylanders developer Vicarious Visions willbe remastering the first three Crash Bandicoot games, to release sometime in 2017, though a specific date isn’t yet known.

Charlie is a platforming romantic from England, that still speaks in a fashion that died with the Elizabethan era. Having been gaming since the days of Crash Bandicoot, he champions the Playstation, and is only a little bit embarassed that Super Mario Land keeps spelling his defeat.
