Joey Styles has been released by WWE.
The former ECW commentator was fired last week following a controversial Q&A that Styles participated in on WWE’s Facebook page.
During the session, Styles criticised the naming of the WWE Universal Championship and Roman Reigns’ continued pushes, among other topics. The offending material has since been deleted from the Facebook page. It is believed that his comments and criticisms directly led to his release.
Styles joined WWE in 2005 as part of the promotion’s attempt to relaunch ECW. He remained as an announcer for three years before moving into the WWE.com team, later becoming the Vice President of Digital Media Content.
Styles, usually very active on social media, has not tweeted since July 29, several days after the ill-fated Q&A.
