Gene Wilder, best-known for his role as Willy Wonka, has died aged 83.
The actor, twice nominated for an Oscar, passed away following complications from Alzheimer’s disease. He was diagnosed with non-Hodgkins lymphoma in 1989.
As well as his starring role in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, Wilder also appeared in Blazing Saddles, See No Evil, Hear No Evil, The Producers and Young Frankenstein.
He also won an Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actor on a Comedy Series following a guest role on Will and Grace in 2003.
He is survived by by his wife Karen and nephew Jordan.
