The final day of this year’s San Diego Comic-Con saw Spider-Man swing into the limelight, with a panel containing Spider-Man 2099 writer Peter David and Silk writer Robbie Thompson, as well as Spider-Gwen author Jason Latour. Marvel Associate Editor Devin Lewis joined the party, to discuss some alluring details new Spidey story, The Clone Conspiracy.
The adventure will begin with Before Dead No More, a four-part series starting with Amazing Spider-Man #16. The issue oversees Peter Parker adjusting to the wealthy life, when a “terrible accident at one of his facilities” occurs, according to Lewis. The comic will also include a new female Electro as well as an encounter with Prowler.
The presently Living Brain-dwelling Doctor Octopus was also confirmed to be returning in Before Dead No More. “He’s making a huge play” Lewis said, “It’s unbelievable.” The mechanically-limbed villain will reappear “with all his arms” in issue #18, coming this October. By the sounds of it, the Dead No More narrative will allegedly be something of a treat for villain-fans. According to Lewis, the story is positively brimming with recognisable baddies, including the formidable Jackal.
“You’ve never seen a Spidey story with so many fan-favorite villains.” he said, “Dan’s done a Goblin story. He’s done ‘Superior Spider-Man.’ But what happens when Dan takes the Jackal and runs with him? You’re about to find out.”
