San-Diego Comic-Con 2016: New Sonic The Hedgehog Trailer

During the celebrations at San Diego Comic-Con, SEGA revealed that their spiky blue mascot, Sonic The Hedgehog will be returning next year in a brand new game, across the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, as well as the Nintendo NX.

While the team didn’t go into detail surrounding the 2017 release, it was confirmed that both digital and physical versions of the game will be released. It’s also being made by the team behind Sonic Colours and Sonic Generations (via. IGN).

This isn’t the first we’ve heard of a new Sonic the Hedgehog game, however. Just last month, Sonic Team announced that they were working on a “completely new game”, as well as a “full movie” (via. Soah Cityin celebration of the hero’s 25th Anniversary.

Also confirmed for 2017 was Sonic Mania: a 2D sidescroller coming to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. Meanwhile, a second season of animated TV series Sonic Boom is also in the works.

If 2017 still feels a long way off however, you can get a load of the wisecracking speedster in Sonic Boom: Fire and Ice, coming this September to the 3DS.
