While it had been made clear heading in that certain Marvel Studios footage shown in the famed Hall H at Comic-Con would be for attendees’ eyes only, it didn’t lessen the anticipation.
Especially when it came to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.
With director James Gunn and the main cast all in attendance, and principal filming wrapped, the chances of footage were high. And while we can’t actually bring you the footage, we can do our best to describe what was seen by those lucky ones in attendance.
It started with a lengthy clip showing Baby Groot helping Rocket Raccoon and Yondu escape the Ravagers. It was confirmed that Yondu is now a full member of the Guardians, and what’s more, he now has his full fin.
The film’s first trailer then aired, introducing us to Mantis and Ayesha, as well as confirming that Nebula is now also a member of the team. The trailer then brings in Kurt Russell, who confirms himself as Star Lord’s father, and introduces himself as Ego. Now, comic book fans will know Ego as The Living Planet, and in the trailer Ego confirms that while he is not human, he has made a human body for himself, “creating what I imagined biological life would be like, down to the most minute detail”.
“Did you make a penis?”
Sylvester Stallone was also confirmed as appearing in the movie.
James Gunn took to Facebook afterwards to comment on what was shown off during the panel.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is due to be released on 5 May 2017.
