NetherRealms Open To The Idea Of A Horror Movie Inspired Fighting Game

The Mortal Kombat series has seen a number of iconic horror characters join the cast in the form of DLC. With an increasing number of horror characters added to the series, there would definitely be room for a Horror inspired fighting game. Well, it seems like this idea is floating around at NetherRealms.

During Mortal Kombat X Pro League Finals. Game Informer had the chance to interview Ed Boon. The question of NetherRealms doing a horror movie fighting game came up, and Ed Boon did not dismiss the idea. When asked, Boon responded:

“Yes, yes! You know, as we’ve been accumulating them, that idea has been coming up more and more frequently. You brought it up and a few other people have brought it up like ‘why don’t you do a horror movie fighting game?’ Maybe one day we’ll do it.”

The rest of the interview revolved around the subject of how NetheRealms decides which guest characters to bring into Mortal Kombat. Boon replied saying there are a number of ways the studio decide which guest characters to bring in. One major factor being someone on the team suggesting a character and the other being fan feedback on characters they want to see in the game.

So what do you think? Do you like the idea of NetheRealms working on a horror movie fighting game? Let us know in the comments below.
