LEGO Doctor Strange Set Description Revealed

The up and coming LEGO set for Marvel Super Heroes’ Doctor Strange has been given a set description. According to the LEGO online shop (via. The Brick Fan), Doctor Strange’s Sanctum Sanctorum will include minifigures for Doctor Strange, Baron Karl Mardo and The Ancient One, whilst a mysterious ‘portal beast’ was also alluded to.

The beast is described on the site to feature “rotating teeth, moving eyes and tentacles that can trap minifigures”, which suggests that the set could contain multi-limbed monster Shuma-Gorath. However, the beast’s exact identity has yet to be officially confirmed. As posted on the LEGO store site, here’s how the set is described:

Banish the portal beast from Doctor Strange’s Sanctum Sanctorum!

Team up and expel the portal beast from Doctor Strange’s mysterious headquarters with some super-heroic supernatural action! Fend it off with Doctor Strange’s mystical artifacts, and evade being captured by the portal beast’s tentacles using the cape of levitation. Send in Karl Mordo to battle the beast with his quarterstaff, and help The Ancient One strike with the powerful magical fans at her fingertips!

  • Includes 3 minifigures: Doctor Strange, Karl Mordo and The Ancient One.
  • Doctor Strange’s Sanctum Sanctorum features a portal beast with rotating teeth, moving eyes and tentacles that can trap minifigures, shelves for mystical artifact accessories, levitation effect for 2 minifigures, and levitation function for Doctor Strange’s cloak.
  • Weapons include Karl Mordo’s quarterstaff and The Ancient One’s magical fans with eldritch calligraphy.
  • Accessory elements include Doctor Strange’s cloak of levitation and magical power elements with eldritch calligraphy markings.
  • This set offers an age-appropriate building experience for ages 7-14.
  • Sanctum Sanctorum measures over 4” (11cm) high, 12” (31cm) wide and 7” (18cm) deep.

Strange’s Sanctum Sanctorum will release on August 1 2016, in support of the anticipated movie starring Benedict Cumberbatch. According to Marvel Toy News, the set will cost £34.99.

Doctor Strange hits cinemas later this year on October 28. The film will release a week later in the USA on November 4 2016. The movie stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Tilda Swinton, Mads Mikkelson, Rachel McAdams, Michael Stuhlbarg and Chiwetel Ejiofor.

In April, an official trailer for the film was released during late-night talk show, Jimmy Kimmel Live. The movie centers around neurosurgeon, Stephen Strange who discovers a plethora of alternate dimensions in attempt to heal himself of serious injuries from a car crash.
