WWE Release Sandow, Barrett; 6 Others Also Gone

Damien Sandow and Wade Barrett have been released by WWE.

In what ended up being somewhat of a mass culling by the company today, Sandow and Barrett, along with Santino Marella, Cameron, Hornswoggle, Alex Riley, El Torito and Zeb Colter, found themselves being future endeavoured.

Sandow’s release is sure to bring much frustration from fans, who for some time have petitioned (and actually have started a petition) for the former Mr Money in the Bank to get more TV time. He found himself over with a Macho Man tribute gimmick alongside Curtis ‘AxelMania’ Axel, which was abruptly scrapped when Hulk Hogan was infamously released from the company. Since then, his TV appearances have been few and far between.

Former Intercontinental champion Barrett has taken to Twitter to confirm previous reports that he decided not to extend his contract, with today’s release the result of a mutual agreement to end his current deal early. He was written out of WWE storylines when he was attacked by his League of Nations teammates on the Raw following WrestleMania.

Cameron’s release doesn’t come as a major shock, especially with her recent social media support for Ryback, who has publicly criticised WWE recently. Meanwhile Hornswoggle has posted a touching thank you to WWE.
