Second Splatoon Wii U Premium Pack Confirmed for Japan

In celebration of Splatoon’s first anniversary, Nintendo have announced that a new Splatoon Premium Pack will be releasing in Japan, according to Perfectly Nintendo (via. NeoGAF).

The special Wii U bundle will release on July 7 and will be priced at 39,960 Yen (around £248, or $362). The pack releases on the same day as the new Splatoon Amiibos.

In addition to everything included in the standard Premium Pack (detailed here on Nintendo’s website), the Splatoon bundle will include the Callie and Marie Amiibo (set for the same July 7 release date), as well as a preloaded version of Splatoon.

Splatoon launched in Japan on May 28 last year as a new venture by Nintendo, and has since become one of Nintendo’s most successful new IPs in recent years. The game celebrates its one-year anniversary in Europe and North America today, and tomorrow in Australia. The Squid Research Lab shared some celebratory artwork to commemorate the occasion.

According to Eurogamer, the game has sold over 4 million units worldwide, and is owned by a third of Wii U owners.

Whether or not the Wii U bundle will be seeing a Western release is currently unknown, but the new Splatoon Amiibos were confirmed to be hitting stores across North America and Europe on July 8 (a day after their launch in Japan). The new Amiibos include different colour types for Inkling Girl, Inkling Boy and Inkling Squid, as well as Squid Sisters Callie and Marie.
