Netflix Exclusive Deal with Disney to Start in September

Are you a happy Netflix US subscriber?

Well, you are likely about to get a whole lot happier.

Netflix have announced that, starting in September, they will be the exclusive streaming home to all Disney movies. And that’s not just direct Disney films – Pirates of the Caribbean, for example – but ALL films released by Disney. That includes Pixar, LucasFilm’s Star Wars movies, and the big one of the collection, Marvel.

From a blog post on the company website;

From September onwards, Netflix will become the exclusive US pay TV home of the latest films from Disney, Marvel, Lucasfilm and Pixar.

What this agreement means is that all of Disney’s theatrical releases from 2016 onwards will head to Netflix after their Blu-ray release. And while the actual deal between the two companies was agreed back in 2012, and indeed there are already some Marvel movies on the service, this announcement now confirms that, when it comes to watching your favourite Disney movies online, Netflix is the only place to be this September.
