2K Games Announce Goldberg for WWE 2K17

Following several days of social media teases regarding an ‘unhatching’, Goldberg has been revealed as this year’s WWE 2K17 pre-order exclusive.

A new TV spot, which debuted during last night’s Raw, shows a group of security outside a hatch door, which explodes. Goldberg then emerges and walks off with security, much like his old WCW entrance. A graphic then reveals that you can ‘pre-order and play’ as the the former WCW and WWE champion.

There was speculation that the ‘Hatch’ teases would lead to an announcement regarding the video game, but there was little-to-no-talk that it would feature Goldberg.

It remains to be seen whether this new deal between Goldberg and 2K will lead to any on-screen appearances for WWE. In previous years, deals with 2K Games has led to Ultimate Warrior’s induction into the WWE Hall of Fame, and Sting’s in-ring WWE debut at WrestleMania 31.

In an 2015 interview, Goldberg revealed that he had spoken to Triple H and WWE about getting back into the ring;

“I had a conversation with Paul [Levesque] recently and I said, ‘Listen, I’m willing to put everything aside. If you guys want to sit down and make some money and have some fun, then let’s do it. My son wants to see me wrestle, and I’m willing to put all the bad feelings aside. If you guys want to move forward and do this thing the right way, then let’s talk.’”
