Disease is coming to Crusader Kings 2

If you’ve played Crusader Kings 2, you might be familiar with a mod which changes the lethality of sickness. Disease in Crusader Kings 2 is mostly a mild annoyance, but when you enable that mod you run the risk of having an entire country depopulated within a decade. Realistic? Maybe, and does it make for some awesome storytelling? Yes it does. On that note, there is some good news on the horizon.

If you’re a big fan of the game but wish the diseases were a little more destructive, then you’ll like what Paradox are going to include in their next, currently unnamed DLC. According to the dev diary, epidemics will cause depopulation in your provinces, resulting in lowered taxes, levy size and supply limits. There is also a chance of the disease spreading across the Silk Road, so don’t surprised if the Black Death reaches India. Speaking of which, The Black Death will be hugely overhauled, making it a lot more destructive. You will also be able to build hospitals and hire court physicians to treat the diseased. Failing that, you can always go into hiding and risk losing your mind.

If you’re not yet familiar with Crusader Kings 2 then head over to the official website for more information.
