Civil War II is one of the most anticipated comic book events of the year and as part of the ramp up to the release, Marvel announced last month that each issue, from Civil War II #1 through to Civil War II #7, will feature a deluxe cover version printed on heavier stock using metallic ink to enhance the artwork created by Marko Djurdjevic.
Marvel’s SVP Sales and Marketing David Gabriel had this to say about the announcement:
“CIVIL WAR II is poised to be the biggest comic book of 2016 and we wanted to give retailers covers that really popped off the shelves,” . “Much like what readers saw with the deluxe cover treatments on SECRET WARS #1 and INVINCIBLE IRON MAN #1, you can bet this cover will look like nothing else on the rack!”
The first issue of Civil War II will be an oversized edition, featuring an in-depth introduction story which once more tears the Marvel Comics Universe in two. With the movie version of the first Civil War event doing exceptionally well around the world at the box office right now, the timing couldn’t be any better.
“Brian [Bendis], David [Marquez] and Justin [Ponsor] have crafted an event story that sends shockwaves through the Marvel Universe and says something about the world in which we live,” says Marvel Editor-in-Chief Axel Alonso. “To greet fans that run into stores looking for CIVIL WAR II we are proud to deliver a deluxe cover treatment to each issue of the series.”
Civil War II #1 set for release in June.
