Nintendo NX Reportedly “Won’t Blow Away Current Consoles”

The Nintendo NX Won’t Be a Technical Powerhouse, Apparently.

According to a recently discovered blog post (via. NeoGAF), the up and coming Nintendo NX will not be using the architecture of other current gen consoles.

Following a former Reddit rumour claiming the NX would be using x86 architecture (like the PS4 and Xbox One), blogger Arcadegirl64 – after claiming to have spoken to “seven different people” that this wasn’t true. According to the user the NX has “special, custom-made chips” and that “the overall design of the hardware is very modern.” Although the console’s chips are reportedly “industry leading”, however, it was noted in the post that this didn’t necessarily mean the NX will be “the most powerful hardware on the market.”

Citing unknown sources, the blog post reported that the NX will be “much closer to Xbox One than PlayStation 4” in terms of power, and that it wouldn’t be a direct competitor for Sony’s enhanced PS4 Neo.

The NX was announced by Nintendo to be releasing in March 2017. No official details regarding the console’s design, hardware or performance have yet been released by Nintendo.
