RuneScape NXT

Let’s be honest here, have any of you ever played RuneScape? That old browser MMORPG? Well JaGeX – the creator of RuneScape, has something new to offer all of you older fans.

Well, before we get into that. When RuneScape first came out back in 2001 it seemed like the game was going to get old and lose its touch very quickly. JaGeX has done its best to keep the fans while keeping the core of the game together, the thing that brought it and kept most of the fans.

In 2004 JaGeX did the start of launching RuneScape into its main appeal by releasing a revamped version of the engine that also offered 3d graphics, smoother gameplay, and music. This was how the game stayed graphics wise for about 9 years. Fast forward to 2013, JaGeX made the new continuation of the RuneScape engine playable, titled as RuneScape HD, which offered newer, beautiful graphics. Along with the updated graphics came a new sound engine and along with that was the introduction of playing the game using HTML5 as well as Java. But, what could come next?

Well, in 2016, this year on today’s date, RuneScape NXT has been released. RuneScape NXT is a new launcher/game client that will allow for much longer draw distances as well as for the game to run faster and better than previously allowed by the in-browser experience. The hopes from JaGeX at this time is to slowly phase out the old Java client to allow more resources to be used to support the new NXT version of the client.

If you would like to experience the new RuneScape client you can download it from this link.
