Exclusive Rift Games Now Running on HTC Vive

As it comes with human nature, once people are told they can’t have something, all they want is the thing they cannot have. Not even a month since the Oculus Rift’s release, the headset has lost some of its exclusives due to third-party programming.

A proof of concept program was posted on GitHub that enabled Lucky’s Tale and the Oculus Dreamdeck demos to be run on the HTC Vive. The page says;

It works by reimplementing functions from the Oculus Runtime and translating them to OpenVR calls. Unfortunately Oculus has implemented a Code Signing check on the Runtime DLLs, therefore the Revive DLLs cannot be used unless the application is patched.

It was also hinted at that more Oculus exclusives could be making their way over to the HTC Vive, with the line;

The Revive DLLs already contain the necessary hooking code to work around the Code Signing check in any application.

Aspiring writer, that is trying to get into video game journalism. Very enthusiastic about gaming and fond of anything that is nerdy.
