At a live event in Lowell, Massachusetts last night, the NXT championship changed hands as Samoa Joe defeated Finn Balor.
Joe won clean with the Muscle Buster, ending Balor’s 292-day reign. WWE TV cameras were on hand for the change, with the footage likely to be shown on next week’s NXT TV show.
WWE’s website are reporting the title switch, with the company’s official Twitter feed also posting a video.

PWInsider are reporting that the title change has been in the pipeline for some time, with original plans calling for it to take place at TakeOver: London back in December.
Balor’s loss now potentially paves the way for him to move to the main roster for an angle involving fellow former Bullet Club members Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows.
