Last week, US TV channel, ABC, announced a full week of Marvel-themed episodes on the late-night talk show Jimmy Kimmel Live! While most of the shows center on the upcoming Captain America: Civil War, Doctor Strange star Benedict Cumberbatch made an appearance of Tuesday night’s episode to debut the first trailer for this superhero adventure, arriving in cimemas later this year.
The new footage comes less than a week after production wrapped on Doctor Strange, following a highly publicised shoot in New York City. Filming began this past November, with production first taking place in Nepal, before moving to London, Hong Kong, Kathmandu and finally the Big Apple. Just before production wrapped, new set photos gave us our first look at Mads Mikkelsen as the mysterious villain, although no details have been revealed regarding his character.
In the movie, neurosurgeon Stephen Strange discovers a world of magic and alternate dimensions after he seeks help for serious injuries sustained in a car crash. Parts of the movie are filmed in 3D and it promises to be a multi-dimensional mystical experience. Ben Davis, the film’s director of photography, has already promised the film would be “Marvel’s ‘Fantasia.’”
Marvel have also released a new poster following the trailer reveal;
Doctor Strange also stars Chiwetel Ejiofor as Baron Mordo and Tilda Swinton as the Ancient One. The film opens October 28 in the UK and November 4 in the US.
