PlayStation VR Release Date and Price Announced

Sony have finally pulled back the curtain on their virtual reality plans by announcing both the release date and price of their PlayStation 4 exclusive VR headset. During the company’s keynote at the 2016 Game Developer Conference, it was revealed that the PlayStation VR will release in October (this year) and will cost £349.99/$399.99.

This price is a huge cut in comparison to the  console-specific device’s competitors (with Oculus Rift set at £499.99/$599.99 and HTC Vive going for £689/$799) and when looking specifically at gamers that own a PlayStation 4 already, PS VR could shape up  to be the runaway hit in the headset race.

Sony confirmed that the consumer version of the PS VR will have the same technical specs that we’ve heard about – mainly that the 5.7-inch OLED screens will be capable of displaying games at up to 120 frames per second and has a resolution of 1920 x RGB x 1080.

So with the PlayStation VR launching as the lowest priced home virtual reality headset – along with a line up of 50 compatible games between October and the end of 2016, are you tempted to pick one up upon release?
