Disney’s pursuit of a young Han Solo to star in its 2018 Star Wars spin-off could well be nearing its end, as according to the Hollywood Reporter, casting has narrowed down its options to three possible names.
The Reporter (via. GameSpot) states that tests were conducted in London last weekend, and involved actors Taron Egerton (Kingsman; Eddie the Eagle), Jack Reynor (Transformers: Age of Extinction) and Alden Ehrenreich (Hail, Caesar!).
Whilst allegedly, there could be “other names” on the list, due to the project’s top-secret nature, the identities of other possible actors remain currently unknown. However, names said to have been involved with the process include Miles Teler (Whiplash, Divergent), Ansel Elgort (The Fault in Our Stars) and Emory Cohen..
The stage associated with the tests is not known at this time, meaning the actors could have costume or screen tested.
Disney met with more than 2,500 people in search of an actor to fill the younger boots of Harrison Ford’s 1977 gunslinger, invoking one of the widest casting calls in history. The young Solo will appear in a Star Wars spin-off film by Disney and LucasFilm, with filmmakers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller (known for 21 Jump Street and The LEGO Movie) leading the film’s production. The movie is set for release in 2018.
