New ‘Gotham’ Season 2 Photos Show The Riddler’s Emergence

Gotham’s “Rise of the Villains” series continues to expand on its ever-growing roster of future Arkham Asylum inmates with hints that Edward Nygma will soon begin his dark path leading to him becoming one of DC Comics most iconic villains, The Riddler. Images have been released from an episode due to air next week in the US showing the bad guy making his first move against Gotham.

With new characters such as Mr. Freeze and Hugo strange recently introduced into the show, the attention is now slowly turning to a character that has been in the show from the very beginning. Fans of the Batman-inspired show have known for a very long time that Nygma, who works for the police department, would eventually be taking a turn to the dark side and while the images don’t give us a look at The Riddler in full costume, it’s clear he’s now heading down that path.

The episode centers on Gordon (Ben McKenzie) and Bullock (Donal Logue), who investigate a trail of clues left in a museum robbery, which, unbeknownst to them, were left by Nygma in a dangerous game of cat-and-mouse. Meanwhile, Gordon’s past comes back to haunt him when an anonymous person threatens to expose his hand in Galavan’s murder. Also, Penguin’s visit to some old friends leads him to meet his father, Elijah Van Dalh (guest star Paul Reubens), and Bruce practices his street smarts.

Gotham is currently airing in the UK on Channel 5 on Monday’s 10pm.
