GDC 2016 Pays a Moving Homage to Satoru Iwata

A video paying respects to late Nintendo president Satoru Iwata was shown on Wednesday night at the Games Developers Choice Awards in San Francisco (via. Eurogamer).

The tribute expresses an emotional gratitude to the games craftsman, who, despite his status as one of the biggest names in the corporate world, never detached himself from his identity as a game developer, and further, as a gamer.

In his own words:

“On my business card, I am a corporate president. In my mind, I am a game developer. But in my heart, I am a gamer.”

Charlie is a platforming romantic from England, that still speaks in a fashion that died with the Elizabethan era. Having been gaming since the days of Crash Bandicoot, he champions the Playstation, and is only a little bit embarassed that Super Mario Land keeps spelling his defeat.
