Fallout 4 Mod Lets You Control Dogmeat

It’s commonly said that every dog has his day, and now it seems players can have theirs, thanks to a new Fallout 4 mod that lets you play canine characters.

The new ‘Be The Dog – Playable Dogs’ mod was created by a Nexusmods user by the name of Abbalovesyou, and lets you tear across post-nuke Boston as a selection of dogs seen in Fallout 4, as well as the story’s very own Dogmeat.

The controllable canine understandably can’t shoot guns, but comes equipped with several doggy attack options, with power attacks forming a jumping bite and a running jumping bite (via. VG247).

Abbalovesyou has explained that the mod still has its problems, though. The Pip-Boy tool won’t work in first person view, so the inventory must be accessed another way. Playing as a dog at the game’s start can also crash the game after interacting with your wife (via. GameSpot).

For full instructions on how to install this mod, you can visit its page on Nexusmods. A video displaying the mod’s canine romps across the Wasteland can be found below. The video was uploaded by YouTuber user Mephykuns.

Fallout 4’s best friend Dogmeat won the hearts of The World Dog Awards recently, obtaining an award for Best Video Game Dog. A tweet was posted by Bethesda congratulating Dogmeat’s actor River for her post-apocalyptic debut.

The first paid add-on for Fallout 4, Automatron, arrives today March 22, and is available across PC, Xbox One and the Playstation 4.
