Is Knack Getting a Sequel?

A user on NeoGAF discovered a LinkedIn profile for Mindy Liang, a 3D animator who has cited Knack 2 to have been in development since May 2015.

Working for XPEC Entertainment, a Taiwanese development company, Liang’s CV stated she “animated 3D character motions and cutscenes” for Knack 2 on PS4. However, since discovery, all traces of a sequel have vanished from the developer’s resume.

XPEC Entertainment is known for its development work on games such as Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure, Shrek Forever After and the Kung Fu Panda game.

However, Sony has not announced plans for a sequel, and as games are constantly prototyped without confirmation of release, players shouldn’t expect a sequel for the modular hero just yet.

Knack was originally released in November 2014, as a launch title for the Playstation 4. In The Palace of Wisdom’s review, the title received 3 stars. The game was a greater success with the casual audience, so if a sequel is confirmed by Sony to be in the works, this could hint at a desire to include more titles aimed at casual gamers.

Charlie is a platforming romantic from England, that still speaks in a fashion that died with the Elizabethan era. Having been gaming since the days of Crash Bandicoot, he champions the Playstation, and is only a little bit embarassed that Super Mario Land keeps spelling his defeat.
