Shinsuke Nakamura is to travel to the WWE Performance Centre ahead of signing with the company.
PWInsider are reporting that the 35-year old, who was recently stripped earlier this week of the IWGP Intercontinental championship by New Japan Pro Wrestling, will be heading to Orlando, Florida in early February to spend several weeks at the Performance Centre to train and also undergo medical testing. If he passes that, a deal will be signed between Nakamura and WWE.
It was reported last week that Nakamura – along with AJ Styles, Karl Anderson and Doc Gallows – were negotiating with WWE, and while it was later clarified that Nakamura and Anderson were still under contract with NJPW, it appears the path is clear for Nakamura to make the move with his current deal due to expire at the end of January. It is also being claimed that Nakamura reached out to WWE in early 2015 about a position with the company, however by the time they responded, he had already inked a deal with the Japanese promotion.
WWE are yet to officially comment on the report.
