The Force Awakens Sinks Titanic At US Box Office

Star Wars: The Force Awakens has continued on it’s course to become to the highest-grossing movie of all-time by overtaking Titanic at the US box office.

As of today (January 3), and after just 16 days of release, JJ Abrams’ seventh entry in the Star Wars franchise has now taken $740.3 million, smashing Titanic’s $658 million total. James Cameron’s Avatar still tops the list with $760 million.

Internationally, The Force Awakens has taken $770.5 million, giving it a total worldwide gross of $1.5 billion, making it the sixth highest-grossing film of all-time. That figure is going to increase even more over the coming weeks, with the film to be released in China on January 9.
