Square Enix Poses Real ‘Everyday Heroes’ Competition

During a press conference publisher, Square Enix announced that they will be sponsoring (via. Polygon) a scholarship fund based on one of the central events in episodic adventure title, Life is Strange. The real Everyday Heroes photography contest is just like that of the game, and focuses on “ordinary people doing extraordinary things.”

Photos will be selected and featured on the competition’s homepage, and three chosen finalists will receive publicity on both Square Enix and Dontnod’s social media pages, as well as having their pictures framed and signed by the Life is Strange developer. One select shutterbug, however, will receive the Everyday Heroes scholarship fund, worth $10,000.

Submissions are accepted through the event’s website, asking applicants to upload their snaps with a title and explanation of their captured ‘everyday hero’. Applications will be accepted from now until February 16.

Life is Strange came to a close last year, obtaining a number awards, including The 2015 Game Award for Games for Change. Square Enix have also recently teamed up with anti-bullying society PACER, using Life is Strange inspired tweets to aid fundraising for bullying prevention.

Charlie is a platforming romantic from England, that still speaks in a fashion that died with the Elizabethan era. Having been gaming since the days of Crash Bandicoot, he champions the Playstation, and is only a little bit embarassed that Super Mario Land keeps spelling his defeat.
