Marvel have announced that Ant-Man will be getting a sequel, as well as three new films to add to the Phase 3 slate.
Ant-Man and the Wasp will release on 6 July 2018, and will now act as the first Marvel film named after a female superhero. Evangeline Lilly was introduced as Hope Van Dyne in the first film, with a post-credits scene showing her being presented with the Wasp suit by Hank Pym.
Ant-Man has taken over $409 millon worldwide thus far, and is due to open in China on 16 October.
This sequel announcement now means that two other Marvel movies have had their release dates changed; Captain Marvel has now been pushed back to 8 March 2019, while Chadwick Boseman’s Black Panther outing now set for 16 February 2018.
In addition, the studio have also announced three as-yet-titled Phase 3 films that will release on 1 May 2020, 10 July 2020 and 6 November 2020.
