Back to the Future 2’s Pepsi Perfect To Be Released

To geeks and movie buffs the world over, October 21 of this year marks a very special occasion. It is the date that Marty McFly arrives in the “future” in Back To The Future Part II.

Now while we may be a few years away from flying cars, self-drying and resizing jackets and Fisher-Price actually releasing a working hoverboard, a couple of companies featured in the movie are taking the opportunity to launch unique marketing ventures.

Some might remember that Nike created limited edition replicas of the trainers worn my Marty though sadly power laces were not included.

Now Pepsi has joined the celebrations with possibly the greatest marketing stunt yet. In honour of the movie’s 30th anniversary, the drinks company is releasing a special edition version of their popular fizzy drink.

With the hashtag #TheFutureIsNow, Pepsi released a parody advert on social media showing the new drink, named Pepsi Perfect. Anyone who has seen the movie will no doubt remember Marty’s brief visit to the Cafe 80’s in which he orders a Pepsi in a very odd shaped bottle.

6,500 limited-edition bottles will be available from October 21st, the date from the movie though don’t expect to pay your standard price for one. The going rate will be $20.15 per bottle, although this is still considerably cheaper than what the Back To The Future movie predicted we’d be paying.

Fans of the movie series will no doubt be getting ready to celebrate the date in style so grab your power laces, hoverboard and jump in your flying car to get in line for a Pepsi Perfect.
